  Echocardiogram - Prepare for Your Visit:  
  There is no special preparation for the test.  
     
  Stress Echocardiogram - Prepare for Your Visit:  
  Do not eat three hours before the exam.
Make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes if you will be on the treadmill.
Bring a list of medications you are currently taking.
Hold beta-blockers and if you have asthma, bring an inhaler.

  Transesophageal Echocardiogram - Prepare for Your Visit:  
  Nothing to eat or drink, including medications, after midnight the night before the exam.
Please inform your physician if you have any problems swallowing.
If you have asthma, bring an inhaler.
